KHERONI, Nov 4: The villagers of Harmsa, situated at the border of Dima Hasao and West Karbi Anglong are protesting against lack of facilities in their village.

Villagers claimed that people have been living there for the last 70 years but still there is no proper road connectivity due to which more than 300 families have to face hardships in their day-to-day activities.

The condition of the road connecting their village with the main road, which is about 3 kms long, is such that several potholes about the size of mini ponds have emerged.

Students in the area have to face the hurdle of traversing a difficult road every day to attend schools. Cases of medical emergencies in the village also often lead to tragic consequences due to the poor connectivity.

Moreover, no government schemes have reached the village, including Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), the villagers claimed.

Irked by these, the villagers have come out in protest of their deprivation by the government and said that politicians only visit them to ask for votes.

They appealed to the chief executive member of NC Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Garlosa and power minister Nandita Garlosa to look into their demands for roads, potable water and government welfare schemes.
