GUWAHATI, Nov 13: Lokabandhu Dr Bhubaneswar Barooah Memorial All Assam Inter College Debate Competition was held at Government Ayurvedic College Jalukbari on Saturday.
Candidates from 19 different colleges/institutions participated in the competition. The event started at 10 am with the lighting of lamp by principal Prof Pranabjyoti Baishya, Dr Dilip Kr Goswami, teacher in-charge of debating section, speaker and judges. They also paid tribute to Lt Dr Bhubaneswar Barooah and Lt Dr Jagadish Chandra Bhattachaya, in memory of whom the competition is organised every year.
The topic of the debate was ‘The National Education Policy 2020 will bring remarkable changes in the education system of India’.
The speaker of the competition was Dr Jayanta Krishna Sharmah and Chinmoyee Goswami, Dr Satyajit Das, Dr Sushata Kumar Kashyap were present as judges.
Rajdeep Mahanta from Cotton University was awarded the first prize for debate, Jharna Goswami from University of Law – GU and Arunima Dhar from Royal Global University were awarded the second and third prize respectively.
Nabarun Kashyap & Ashish Barman, Gauhati University won the first prize for Best Team, Arnabjyoti Talukdar & Raj Das, Bhattadev University won second and Jitumoni Kalita & Shahjadi Shabnam Sultana, Sipajhar College won the third prize.
