JORHAT, Nov 13: An oil tanker carrying crude oil was seized by police of Lahdoigarh outpost late on Saturday night on charges of transporting 12,000 litres of stolen crude oil and two persons were arrested in this regard.
A police source said that two persons in the vehicle including the driver have been arrested under sections 468, 471, 379, 411, 34 IPC station case number 246/22 in Teok police station.
The source said that two persons identified as Dulal Borah, a resident of Simoluguri under Mathurapur police station in Charaideo district and Saurav Jyoti Borah of Meleng Brahman Gaon in Jorhat district, who were produced before a judicial magistrate here were remanded three days of police custody.
The police said that the invoice that the duo produced for transporting the consignment reportedly from Digboi to a company, Simplex Infrastructure Pvt Ltd in Amoni, Nagaon district, was found to be fake.
The company is engaged in making the four lane highway.
The police source said that the invoice was found to be forged and that when this was verified from Digboi IOCL, the authorities said that IOCL only sent crude oil to refineries and not to any outside company.
