ATTSA submits memorandum at Margherita

MARGHERITA, Nov 19: Assam Tea Tribes Student Association (ATTSA), Margherita branch committee recently submitted a memorandum to IAS Preeti Kumari, the newly appointed Margherita sub-divisional officer (civil) regarding various anomalies at Margherita Civil Hospital.
Pranjal Baraik, central executive member of ATTSA and Nuwel Patra, general secretary of ATTSA Margherita branch committee, said that on November 15, Sanjana Gowala, daughter of Shibu Gowala who is a resident of Dehing Tea Estate committed suicide at her residence. After police verification, the deceased body was kept at the morgue of Margherita Civil Hospital. Next morning, the family members of the deceased while taking the deceased body to Tinsukia Civil Hospital for post-mortem notices that there are cut marks as if someone tried to take out the eyes from the body. After which, more than 5000 local people gathered at Margherita Civil Hospital and shouted slogans against Dr Kumud Chandra Das, the deputy superintendent of Margherita Civil hospital. The locals alleged that for Dr Kumud Chandra Das, Margherita Civil Hospital has become an epicentre of corruption.
Pranjal Baraik said that many times, a mother loses her child after delivery due to negligence by the doctors and nurses.
“We demand to IAS Preeti Kumari, Margherita sub-divisional officer (civil) to immediately conduct an impartial enquiry regarding the matter and to suspend the doctor, nurses and security staffs who were on duty on the fateful night and to discharge Dr Kumud Chandra Das from his duty and conduct judicial enquiry against him,” said Pranjal Baraik, central executive member of ATTSA and Nuwel Patra, general Secretary of ATTSA, Margherita branch committee.
