Bahona College faculty does collaborative research in UK varsities

JORHAT, Dec 8: Dr Aishawnnya Sharma, assistant professor in the department of Physics at Bahona College, Jorhat, visited the universities of Sheffield and Cambridge in the United Kingdom for collaborative research from November 20 to December 4 this year as part of a Royal Astronomical Society-Office for Astronomy Development (RAS-OAD) UK travel award grant.
A Bahona College faculty member informed that during her visit, she (Dr Aishawnnya Sharma) collaborated with Professor Róbert von Fáy Siebenbürgen of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Solar Physics and Space Plasma Research Centre (SP2RC), on a study of MHD waves in the solar atmosphere using observations from the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS).
She also presented her research on the ‘Dynamics of Sunspot Waves in the Solar Atmosphere’ at the Universities of Cambridge and Sheffield during her visit.
The work is being done in conjunction with the upcoming Aditya-L1 solar dedicated mission from India, the faculty member stated.
