GUWAHATI, Jan 13: The West Guwahati Commerce College and the Gauhati University NSS Cell jointly celebrated the ‘National Youth Day’ and also the 160th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in the college premises on January 12.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr Ranjan Kr. Kakati, Director Students’ Welfare, G.U. and P.C., GU NSS Cell, dwelt on the importance of the ‘National Youth Day’ and the roles youths can play in the development of the nation.
Paying his tributes to Swami Vivekananda, Dr Kakati recalled how Swamiji has played a great role in inspiring youths of the world and India in particular. Dr Kakati also spoke on sustainable development goals to the NSS volunteers and the students.
Participating in the programme, BN Dutta, Principal (i/c), WGCC, dwelt on the responsibilities of the youths of the new generation.
On the occasion, S. Debnath, Librarian, W.G.C.C. dwelt about the life, philosophy and principles of Swami Vivekananda. A cultural event was also held on the occasion. Manashi Bhattacharjee, NSS P.O., WGCC NSS Unit delivered the vote of thanks. A large number of NSS volunteers, students, faculties and staff attended the programme.
