GUWAHATI, Jan 28: Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday distributed appointment letters to 1,208 people who got jobs in various government departments.
The appointment letters were given to candidates who will fill up vacancies in the Health and Family Welfare Department and Home and Political Department at a function held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra here on Saturday.
The chief minister handed over the appointment letters to 1,136 youth for the Health and Family Welfare Department and 72 for the Home and Political Department.
Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Sarma termed the day as very important, as 1,208 youth of the state got their appointments in Health and Family Welfare Department and Home and Political Department which is a way forward to youth empowerment.
“Happy to distribute appointment letters to 1,208 selected candidates for Health & Family Welfare and Home & Political departments at Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati. With 41,710 appointments so far, we are marching towards our goal of providing 1 lakh Govt jobs,” CM Sarma tweeted after the event.
He said that human resource is the main driving force for the Health and Family Welfare Department, as induction of staff nurses will give new momentum to provide an affordable and accountable health care delivery system to the people.
He said that with these appointments, the government is going ahead aggressively to fulfil its commitment in giving one lakh appointments to the youth of the state.
CM Sarma said that since 2006, except for one year, he has been at the helm of the health department. Among several initiatives, CM Sarma said that of late for skill empowerment of the nurses, steps have been taken to teach them functional English language, computer education and other soft skills.
“These have been done to empower the GNM nurses to meet the nursing needs available in Singapore, Japan, etc,” Himanta said.
The chief minister also requested the staff nurses to be devoted and dedicated to serve the patients. The chief minister further said that for the appointment in Grade III and IV category, one more examination will be held very shortly and 12 thousand more appointments will be made in the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The chief minister also said that since 1988, because of insurgency, peace in Assam has been disturbed. He said that more than four hundred families of the security forces were deprived of justice for various reasons. “However, ending all wrangles, the present Cabinet decided to give appointments to 72 youth from 422 families of the Assam Police. I assure you that very shortly the other families will also get government appointments,” the chief minister said while addressing the audience here.
Health and family welfare minister Keshab Mahanta, MP Rajya Sabha Pabitra Margherita, DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Special DGP G P Singh, principal secretary Home and Political Niraj Verma, principal secretary Health and Family Welfare Avinash Joshi and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
