Child marriage: Groom in police net

NAGAON, Jan 28: Virtually initiating action against child marriage, Rupahihat police arrested a groom and two others from a venue of a wedding ceremony at Dakshin Khatowal under Rupahihat PS on Saturday.

The groom was allegedly trying to marry a minor girl.

Sources claimed that one Wabadul Islam of Dakshin Khatowal village went to marry a minor girl of the same village. When the wedding ceremony was in process, the local police rushed to the spot and arrested the bridegroom and two others on spot, sources said, adding that police registered a suo moto case in this regard.
