Woman nabbed for allegedly investing money to poppy cultivators in Manipur

IMPHAL, Feb 14 (NNN): Police arrested a woman on the charge of investing money to the poppy cultivators, informed sources on Monday.
The arrested woman has been identified as Lamkhovah (45) of Imphal East district.
The police accused her of investing Rs 30,000 for poppy cultivation in Kangpokpi district.
Meanwhile, poppy plants on around 10 acres of fields were destroyed by spraying herbicides using drones as the drive against illicit poppy cultivation continued further in hill districts.
Police said that as many as five acres of illegal poppy plantations were destroyed at the hill range within the jurisdiction of T Jordanphai Village and 4.9 acres at Khopibung village Kangpokpi district today using drones.
The drive was carried out by a combined team of the NAB, a drone team, Imphal East district police and 4 Assam Rifles, added the police.
