Gurmeet Choudhary to lead new Disney+ Hotstar series ‘Maharana’

Mumbai, Feb 15 (PTI): Actor Gurmeet Choudhary will headline the upcoming Disney+ Hotstar series “Maharana”.
The actor will essay the role of Maharana Pratap, the 16th- century Rajput king of Mewar known for posing a fierce military resistance to the expansion of the Mughal empire.
The Hotstar Special comes from filmmaker Nitin Chandrakant Desai and is produced by Trimitik Production Pvt Ltd.
Actor Ridhima Pandit will feature opposite Choudhary as Maharani Ajabde. The cast also includes Ashwini Bhave, Surendra Pal, Danish Bhat, Prithvi Hatte, Mahesh Kale, Subodh Bhave, Maadhav C Deochake and Sameer Dharmadhikari. Choudhary said he is honoured to lead a project that is connected to the roots of India. “Maharana Pratap was known for his courage and bravery, I am very happy to get a chance to know more about his life. It is also a challenge to portray a strong character like Maharana Pratap himself. I am thankful to Disney+ Hotstar and Nitin Desai for giving me this project,” the 38-year-old actor said in a statement.
Pandit said the period drama gives her a chance to portray a strong and resilient character of Maharani Ajabde.
