IMPHAL, April 17 (NNN): Another MLA of the ruling BJP in Manipur on Monday tendered resignation as chairman of the Tourism Corporation of Manipur, while expressing disappointment over “non-assignment of any responsibility” to him.
“I tender my resignation from the post of chairman Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited as I have not been assigned any responsibility as a chairman,” BJP MLA Karam Shyam wrote to chief minister N Biren Singh on Monday.
His resignation came in less than a week after sitting BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam tendered his resignation as Advisor to the chief minister on the ground that he was “not given any responsibility”.
Karam was the cabinet minister in-charge of CAF&PD in the previous N Biren Singh led BJP’s coalition government.
He was re-elected from Langthabal Assembly constituency in Imphal West on BJP ticket in the 2022 election to the state Assembly and appointed as chairman of the Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited.
In a video released by the MLA after tendering his resignation, Karam alleged that since the very assumption of the charge as chairman of the corporation, he was not given any responsibility.
The MLA, however, said that he would prefer to work for the welfare of the people, particularly for his constituency and for the party (BJP).
