ITANAGAR, Oct 24: The Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Youth Organisation (APIYO) carried out a protest rally in the state capital on Friday, demanding immediate identification and deportation of illegal immigrants and action against alleged illegal constructions of Jama Masjids and Madarsas in the Twin Capital Complex.

APIYO leaders expressed concern over the increasing presence of illegal immigrants, stating that the influx is straining the state’s limited resources and affecting opportunities for indigenous communities.

“We are not against any religion or community. However, anyone coming to Arunachal Pradesh must obtain proper Inner Line Permits (ILP) with correct addresses,” they said.

The organisation submitted a charter of demands to the authorities, which included: Cancellation of alleged illegal Jama Masjid/Madarsa constructions within the Twin Capital Complex; immediate identification and removal of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Itanagar and Naharlagun; official recognition of only two legal Jama Masjids within the Twin Capital Complex to ensure transparency; ban on weekly markets in and around the Twin Capital Complex, including Doimukh and Hollongi, citing law-and-order concerns.

Highlighting the seriousness of the issue, APIYO leaders announced a 15-day ultimatum to the state government.

They warned that failure to address the matter would prompt further democratic movements to safeguard the rights and security of indigenous people.

The protest rally was aimed at creating mass awareness about the issue and pressuring the authorities to take immediate action.
