NAMSAI, May 26: The inauguration ceremony for the newly constructed 06 Units of Type-II (G+2) Staff Quarter Building under the project titled “Infrastructure Development of Government Higher Secondary School at Chongkam” was held with great enthusiasm and community participation. The initiative is a key component of the Golden Jubilee Model School Scheme, aimed at uplifting educational infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh.
The event was graced by the Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, who attended as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Chow Zingnu Namchoom, MLA of the 47-Namsai Constituency and Advisor for Rural Works, Sports & Youth Affairs; CR Khampa, Deputy Commissioner of Namsai District; senior officials from various departments, and members of the public.
The ceremony commenced with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and the unveiling of the inaugural plaque, followed by a detailed inspection of the newly completed staff quarters. Er Mosum Sema, Executive Engineer of the Urban Development, Namsai Division, delivered the welcome address. She presented a comprehensive project briefing and extended gratitude to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for entrusting the department with the responsibility of executing such a vital project. She noted that this project was part of a broader effort under the Golden Jubilee Model School Scheme, which also covers schools at Adi Ningroo and Kumari, Lekang.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein lauded the ongoing developmental strides in Namsai district, with notable improvements in road infrastructure, hydroelectric power projects, tourism development, and air connectivity. He called upon the youth of Namsai to move beyond the pursuit of government jobs and to explore entrepreneurial opportunities, particularly in the burgeoning tourism sector, where the district holds tremendous untapped potential.
In a forward-looking gesture, Mein requested the Deputy Commissioner to organize workshops for the youth to showcase their talents in local handicrafts, and to create mechanisms to support startups and young entrepreneurs. He also proposed identifying old SPT government buildings for dismantling, advocating for the construction of vertically extended quarters as a space-optimizing solution.
He went on to congratulate the Urban Development Department, Namsai Division, for the timely completion of the staff quarters. He praised the team’s efficiency and dedication, especially for delivering the project ahead of the scheduled timeline, a testament to the department’s commitment to quality and punctuality.
In a significant announcement, the Deputy Chief Minister revealed that the Tai Khampti Heritage Research and Development Centre Building is currently under construction. This centre, once completed, will serve as a repository for the digital preservation and study of ancient Tai Khampti manuscripts, fostering historical research and cultural preservation.
As part of the day’s events, the newly constructed Staff Quarter Building was officially handed over to the Principal of the Government Higher Secondary School, Chongkam, marking the beginning of its operational use.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the School Principal, who expressed heartfelt appreciation to all stakeholders, government officials, and departments whose collaborative efforts ensured the successful execution of the project.
This inauguration stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and promoting sustainable development in Arunachal Pradesh, especially in the remote and aspirational regions like Chongkam.
