Upper Siang observes Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

YINGKIONG, Aug 14: Joining the rest of the country, the Upper Siang District Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Information & Public Relations and the Department of Art & Culture, observed “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day” at the DC Office premises here today.

Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang inaugurated an exhibition in the presence of officers, staff and members of the public.

According to an official statement, the DC highlighted the significance of the day, stating that it was a time to honour the memory of those who endured the pain of partition and to pay tribute to their sacrifices and sufferings, in his address.

The exhibition displayed rare photographs from the 1947 Partition, capturing the struggles, displacement and resilience of millions affected during that period.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
