During his visit, Shankar toured several Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) and inspected the newly constructed One Stop Centre (OSC) building in Yingkiong, aimed at supporting women in distress. He also visited the Women Help Desk at the local police station and the Pahung Jino Rural Mart, which plays a key role in promoting local entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities.

While engaging with members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and staff of the WCD department, the Director commended their dedication and discussed ways to further enhance women and child welfare services in the region.

A scheduled visit to the Vibrant Villages of Tuting and Siang was unfortunately cancelled due to inclement weather and persistent road blockades.

Before concluding his visit, Shankar held a review meeting with Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang and heads of various line departments. The meeting focused on the progress of the Vibrant Villages Programme and addressed implementation challenges, while reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to holistic rural development and gender empowerment in the region.
