SIVASAGAR, March 12: 11th Assam Girls NCC, Sivasagar in association with Gargaon College organised the ‘Shaheedon Ko Shat Shat Naman’ programme on the occasion of 75 years of India’s Independence on Thursday. The organisers paid rich tributes to several martyrs including Rupam Gogoi, Benodhar Gogoi, Nor Bahadur Thapa, Umesh Gogoi, Loknath Borgohian, Puniram Bharali and Sami Ranjan Sarma who sacrificed their lives for the country and felicitated their family members with mementos. Colonel Ravideep Sing Chahabda, Commanding Officer, 11th Assam Girls (I) Coy NCC in his speech spoke on the trials and tribulations of life and hailed the supreme sacrifices of the soldiers for the nation.
Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, principal, Gargaon College paid homage to the martyrs and lauded the effort of Dr Raktim Patar, CTO, 49 Assam Naval NCC and Pimili Langthasa, CTO 11 Assam Girls NCC for organising the event. The programme was graced by Lt Commander Rajesh Bhuujel, Dr Rina Handique, and other faculty members of the college.
