138th Foundation Day of INC celebrated at Jorhat

JORHAT, Dec 28: The 138th Foundation Day of the Indian National Congress was celebrated on Wednesday by the Jorhat district unit with a day-long programme at the Congress Bhawan (party’s office) here.
In a meeting held at the office, presided over by Jorhat district unit Congress president Putul Buragohain and attended by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) working president Rana Goswami, and local leaders and party workers including those from Mahila Congress and Seva Dal, several senior members were felicitated by Putul Buragohain and Rana Goswami.
Bidya Tasa, Rupeswar Neog, Gyasuddin Ahmed, Majoni Neog, Dimbeswar Tungkhungia, Nirmal Konwar and Kouti Das were felicitated in the programme.
Earlier, Rana Goswami, Putul Buragohain and party members paid floral tributes and lit lamps before the portraits of Congress leaders who sacrificed their lives for the party.
Buragohain at the outset of the programme, hoisted the party flag at the office premises.
Congress Jorhat district unit party general secretary and chairman of the media department (Jorhat) Abhijit Phukan and Jorhat unit general secretary (organisation) Bikash Gogoi were among the office-bearers who attended the programme.
