15-foot python rescued in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, July 24: A 15-foot-long python was rescued from Kowamora Handikoi Gaon near Sivasagar on Sunday by Ramij Ali, a young environmental activist, after it was spotted attempting to prey on a goat.

According to reports, the reptile—identified as a boa—was initially driven away by villagers while it was about to devour the animal.

However, it returned later to retrieve the kill, at which point Ali successfully captured it and handed it over to the Forest Department.

Forest Officer Himangshu Gogoi confirmed that the python was released into the Panidihing Bird Sanctuary the next day.

Following the incident, rescuer Ramij Ali urged local residents not to harm wild animals, stating that such species play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance.
