18th Assam Yoga Mahotsav inaugurated in Hojai

NAGAON, Dec 12: The 18th Assam Yoga Mahotsav was ceremonially inaugurated on Thursday at the Jugal kishore Kedia Bhawan in Hojai.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by a colorful yoga procession, which was flagged off by local MLA Ramkrishna Ghosh. A yoga cultural program and an inter-yoga college yoga competition were also organized, in which participants from various districts of the state took part.

The session was mentored by Dhananjay Talukdar, the chief advisor of Yoga Sanskritik and Yoga Chikitsa Kendra, Guwahati

During the inaugural session, Swami Bhaveshananda Maharaj, secretary of Ramkrishna Mission Ashram, Ranchi, Jharkhand, was conferred the Swami Sivananda Saraswati Yoga Prerana Award by Prof Manabendra Dutta Choudhury and MLA Ramkrishna Ghosh.

A total of 17 distinguished individuals were also felicitated with various awards, including Dr Niten Barman (Yoga Bhushan), Dr Anil Pegu (Yoga Bikash), Reena Devi (Yoga Baibhav), Nita Lahkar Talukdar (Yoga Prasharak), Parashmoni Bora (Yoga Kranti award), Gautam Patowary (Yoga Dristi), Suman Teronpi (Yoga Prahari), Dr Hridayananda Tamuly Phukan and Rinijini Khonikar (Yoga Yoddha), Ankita Barthakur (Yoga Prashurya), Rashmi Chiring Phukan (Yoga Pratibha), Kanika Das (Yoga Mitra), Rupjyoti Kor (Yoga Rashmi), Manabendra Mandal (Yoga Sevak), Shubhashish Bala (Yoga prasharika), Ananda Shill (Yoga Bandhu) and Harshit Konwar Bora (Yoga Samrat)etc.

It’s reported in a press note here that during the month long celebration of Yoga Mahotsav, various social programmes, including yoga awareness meetings, blood donation camps, street plays, Reiki awareness, and yoga competitions, will be organised across the state. The celebration of Yoga Mahotsav will come to an end on January 12, 2025 next in Guwahati.
