MARGHERITA, May 10: The police arrested three persons and 329.81 grams of suspected contraband substances from a house in Bira Gate in Ledo in Tinsukia district.
Based on reliable information, the police conducted a raid at the rented house in the midnight on Thursday and arrested three individuals. They also recovered 29 packets containing suspected contraband substances along with cash worth Rs 1 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Sanjib Kumar, Thang A and Maya Magar.
Sambhavi Mishra, Margherita sub-divisional police officer said, “This is our third major recovery in recent times and it is the largest so far. The approximate value of the seized drugs is between Rs. 8 to 10 lakh. We have also recovered around Rs. 1 lakh in cash.”
The police operation against drug trafficking has been intensified in various areas with several successful raids being conducted in the past few months.
The accused are currently in police custody and further investigation is underway to unravel the drug syndicate’s network and supply chain.
