MANGALDAI, Nov 25: The second annual convention of the Assam Retired Diploma Engineers’ Association and the annual convention of the Assam Diploma Engineers’ Service Association (ADESA) were held last Saturday at Sainik Bhawan in Mangaldai. The session was attended by more than 300 members from different ADESA zones. The meeting was chaired by Chakra Singh Mili, advisor to the Assam Diploma Engineers’ Association.
As a distinguished guest, Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad chief advisor Bashab Chandra Kalita discussed salary discrimination among diploma engineers. Although they were grade-two officers, he said it was regrettable that diploma engineers were paid in Pay Band three.
At the meeting, the Assam Retired Diploma Engineers’ Association committee was reorganised, with Sobahan Ali Ahmed serving as secretary and Nikunja Mohan Das as president.
Iswar Goswami had earlier given the reception committee’s welcome address. Deepak Nath, Keshab Kumar Sarma, Hydar Ali, Dinabandhu Boro, Achyut Nath, and Samarendra Nath were the secretaries representing the reception committee.
