SIVASAGAR, Nov 3: Sivasagar district administration has completed all preparations for holding the elections. On Thursday, the election officers imparted training in Sivasagar Girls’ College which was supervised by the election observer Partha Pratim Boiragi and district nodal officer and DDC Subhan Guwala.
The micro-observers, counting supervisors, and other counting officers were given training in Sukapha Hall.
Sivasagar deputy commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav IAS, SP Sivasagar Subhrajir Bora, DDC Sivasagar Subham Gowala have instructed the security agencies to be on the alert to prevent any untoward incident during the elections on November 8 in Deori Autonomous Council areas in Sivasagar district.
The political parties have entered the contests with all their might in the three constituencies Sinigiani, Katiori, and Rajabari.
Campaigning for BJP candidates Hiranjit Deori, Bhairob Deori, and Bhaben Deori (AGP), in the Deori Autonomous Council Elections in No 5 Tengapani, No 6 Katiori, and No 7 Rajabari constituencies in Pandihing on Wednesday, the BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita claimed that all the seats in the council will go to the ruling BJP alliance.
Addressing the election meeting in Singiani, Panidihing, Kalita said that the Deori people should vote for the ruling alliance to continue the process of development in the state that began with the coming of the alliance into power. He said that the Deories in Assam have enjoyed maximum benefits in their areas under the present rule and if voted to power, the government will take urgent steps to rebuild the Bolia Baba Than besides improving the road in the area and ensuring additional 9000 beneficiaries of the community under Arunudoi schemes in Thowra LAC. The meeting was also addressed by MLAs Sushanta Borgohain (Thowra), Chakradhar Gogoi (Moran), Rupam Goswami (spokesman), and other senior leaders Dipika Duwori, Surobhi Rajkumari, Pronob Chetia.
In Tenagpani, 1150 voters while in Katiori 1406 voters and in Rajabari 2033 voters will cast votes on November 8.
In the Tengapani constituency, two other candidates Sonesawr Deori (Congress) and Ashim Deori (AAP) will also contest the elections against Bhaben Deori.
In the Rajabari constituency, Dipanjal Deori (AJP) and Boikuntha Deori (Independent) will contest the elections against Bhaoirob Deori. In Katiori, Hironjit Deori will be challenged in the poll by Smart Deori (Congress) Dharmeswar Deori (Raijor Dal), and former AASU leader Hargobinda Deori (Independent).
Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjya of the Congress, campaigning for Basanta Deori and Soneswar Deori lambasted the ruling parties in the state for the unabated price rise of all essential commodities and many other issues he said are anti-people. He urged the voters to vote against the ruling BJP to save democracy and establish people’s rule. He was accompanied by Binod Konwar, secretary, District Congress Committee, and Dambaru Tao, president, Block Congress.
