JORHAT, Oct 8: The All India Motorbike Expedition 2022 organised under the banner of Fit India Mission, under the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, reached Jorhat on Friday night.
Jorhat district administration led by deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman, officials of the Jorhat Sports Association and members of Nehru Yuva Kendra accorded a warm welcome with phulam gamosa to the AIME team at Gandhi Park here on Saturday.
A floral tribute was paid by the DC at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi inside the park, on behalf of all members of the team.
The team started its expedition from Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in Delhi and arrived in Assam on October 3. The expedition will end on November 25 after covering 75 iconic heritage spots across the country.
The expedition was in consonance with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The team later left for Kohima via Numaligarh.
