All Assam Inter College Quiz on Karmabir Chandranath Sarma held in TU

TEZPUR, Nov 19: Tezpur University, in collaboration with Karmavir Chandranath Sarma Death Centenary Memorial Committee on Saturday organised an All Assam Inter College Quiz Competition on freedom fighter Karmabir Chandranath Sarma at the Council Hall of the university.
The quiz was organised to promote ‘Lesser-Known Freedom Fighters of Assam’ under the nationwide celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The quiz was conducted by Dr Palash Moni Saikia, principal, Darrang College and three teams were awarded first, second and third prize. The questions were based on the Indian freedom struggle and Assam, and the entry level for the quiz was undergraduate.
Before starting the quiz competition, Dr Jyoti Kamal Hazarika, principal, Tezpur College and president of Karmabir Chandranath Sarma Death Centenary Memorial Committee highlighted the importance of remembering freedom fighters like Chandranath Sarma, whose birth place is Tezpur and has contributed immensely to the growth of Assam.
Dr Biren Das, registrar, Tezpur University also highlighted the personality of Chandranath Sarma, who was associated with Assam Chatra Sanmilan, Assam Association and Tezpur Congress Committee.
The first prize was won by Rangapara College (Dipika Devi and Habiba Khatun), the second prize was bagged by Sipajhar College (Jyotish Deka and Bhargav Sandilya) and the third prize was bagged by Tezpur Medical College (Dr Saikat Sarma and Aman Pradhan). Total nine colleges participated in the competition.
On the other hand, in the upper section of recitation competition which was held in Chandranath Sarma Memorial Hall, Aditya Ankur Nath of Darrang College bagged the first prize, while Tribeni Sarma of Bihaguri Girls HS was placed in second position and Bhargab Jyoti Bora of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya and Kristina Gogoi of Darrang College were jointly placed in third position. Kuwoli Mahanta of Bihaguri HS was awarded with a judge’s special prize.
In the lower section, Ankita Kalita and Geetartha Priyam Nath of Vivekanada Kendra Vidyalaya were placed in the first and second position respectively. Bristi Devi of CNSM HS and Pubali Devi of Bihaguri Girls HS secured third position jointly. Rini Saikia of Bihaguri Girls HS bagged the judge’s special prize in the lower section.
