All-women bhaona at Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Oct 10: Two bhaona(s) – ‘Droupadir Bastra Haran’ and ‘Yudhishthir Rajarshri Jagya’ were performed on the auspicious occasion of Laxmi Puja by the women artistes of the greater Sootea area on Sunday. The programme was organised in the playground of Chatia HSS under Biswanath district.
Notably, the all-women bhaona was organised for the first time at Sootea. Women artistes performed the role of both male and female characters. The women’s performances in the roles of Bhim and Duryodhana captivated thousands of spectators who attended the bhaona programme.
Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika inaugurated the programme in presence of a huge gathering. He praised the initiative taken by the organisers.
