GUWAHATI, Oct 29: A recent arrest made by the East Guwahati Police Department (EGPD) involved an individual allegedly engaged in cattle smuggling within the 11-mile area in Guwahati.
Following intelligence regarding a potential smuggling activity, the EGPD team conducted an operation resulting in the apprehension of the accused. Upon interception, a truck loaded with live cattle was discovered during the inspection, revealing unauthorized transportation.
The individual in question, identified as Israril Haque from Jakhalabandha in Nagaon, Assam, was purportedly driving the truck, transporting a total of 42 cattle heads to Meghalaya without proper legal documentation.
As per police reports, Haque was arrested and both the cattle and the truck were seized by the authorities in connection with the alleged illegal transportation.
This incident stands as another instance of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curtail unlawful activities within the region.
