HAFLONG, Nov 4: Appointment letters were handed over at a ceremonial programme held at the council premises on Friday to around 65 high school teachers, intermediate and junior posts appointed for different schools in Dima Hasao.
Chief executive member, Debolal Gorlosa attended the programme as the chief guest along with other dignitaries like NCHAC chairperson Ranu Langthasa, NCHAC executive members Lalremsiama Darnei, Nepolal Hojai and NCHAC MAC and Haflong Municipal Corporation chairman Manjit Naiding.
These teachers were appointed after clearing the government conducted Teachers Eligibility Test. As many as 89 numbers of posts were advertised earlier to which 112 applications were received. After verification 77 numbers of applicants were shortlisted to appear for the examination.
During his speech, CEM Debolal Gorlosa congratulated the successful candidates and welcomed them to Dima Hasao as most of the recruited candidates were from other districts of Assam. Highly speaking about the initiatives taken by chief minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, he said that the education scenario of the state of Assam is going in the right direction and that he is hopeful that this district will progress further with hard work and dedication of the efficient teachers. Requesting the newly appointed teachers should sincerely serve the school to enhance the quality, so that people do not hesitate or doubt about the merits of the government schools.
Chairperson Ranu Langthasa in her speech said that teachers should look to their job as a responsibility to transform the society and nation as a whole for good. She added that a good teacher has the capacity to change the lives of students and the fate of the nation, therefore a teacher should responsibly bring changes and reform where needed no matter whichever schools of the interior villages they are recruited. Education executive member Lalremsiama Darnei, congratulating the appointed teachers, spoke in length about the quality of education system to be stressed. He talked about the good results and performance of the students in the recently held HSLC and HSSLC examinations. EM Darnei informed how the council under the leadership of Debolal Gorlosa have been involved with the Education department for Education Mission through which parents, teachers and villagers discuss improving the quality of the schools in their village.
Others present during the meeting were principal secretary of normal sector Mukut Kemprai, deputy secretary Megonjoy Thaosen, ACS, deputy secretary Rebecca Changsan, inspector of schools Gayatri Naiding, DIPRO Purabi Phonglo and officials of the education department and relatives of the newly recruited teachers.
