SIVASAGAR, Jan 18: While sharing a cup of tea with the media persons here in the police reserve on the occasion of Bhogali Bihu, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, DGP, Assam Police on Monday said that the appointment process in Assam Police is very clean and transparent now and there is no interference from any quarter.
With the chief minister’s blessings, the Assam Police has emerged as a new, technically skilled force to take up any challenge. Out of over 5 lakh applicants, only 15 thousand have been appointed and the DGP hopes that the appointed ones will serve the people of the state dedicatedly.
Mahanta also cautioned all police personnel against indulging in corruption and said that no one would be spared high or low in rank.
In the meeting initiated by additional SP Dr Debajit Nath, the DGP informed that over 50 new police reserves have been constructed besides improving the old ones. The meeting was attended by SP Sivasagar Subhrajyoti Bora, retired teachers – Hari Kanta Nath, Hakikur Rahman, Sheikh Wali Ullah, Gobin Bora, and senior police officers of the district.
