Arms, Warlike Materials Seized

DIPHU, Aug 3: In a significant operation, the police in Karbi Anglong successfully recovered arms and warlike materials from Daldali under the Diphu police station. The operation was conducted based on confidential information regarding possible extortion activities in the Dhansiri area.

During the search operation, the police apprehended Abachan Daulaguphu, also known as Jugu, from Mesepbenga, Daldali. Further interrogation led to the apprehension of three others, namely Safa Porbosa from Dimahading, Daldali; Sandip Sorongphong, and Biju Gour from Hemengaon Adivasi Bosti, Dodoli.

The recovered items include a factory-made 12-bore SBBL gun with a loaded 12-bore cartridge, a camouflage jacket, two mobile handsets with SIMs, a Maruti car with registration number AS 01Y-1684, cash amounting to Rs 7,160, and a TVS motorcycle with registration number AS 09D-0174.

A case has been registered at Diphu police station PS C/ No 84/23 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

Sources indicate that on July 31, individuals disguised in camouflage attire and carrying firearms had visited the residence of Promude Hasnu in Wailingdisha near Daldali under the Diphu police station in Karbi Anglong, demanding a sum of Rs 7 lakh. The miscreants issued threats of severe consequences if their demands were not met.
