Assam: 9 cyber criminals apprehended in Guwahati’s Hatigaon during police crackdown

Guwahati, April 18: In a notable move against cybercrime, Hatigaon police arrested nine people on Thursday linked to various cyber offenses. The arrests occurred in the Bhetapara area, with all suspects traced back to URBANICA HOMESTAY on Chandra Choudhury Road.

The suspects booked three rooms at the mentioned homestay from April 10, using pseudonyms linked to cyber criminals from West Bengal. Among the arrestees, Rupam Goswami, Deepak Singh, Feroz Khan, and Shloka Kumar were confirmed to be from West Bengal, while the rest five were from Assam (their identities are still unconfirmed).

Investigations revealed that this group operated a cybercrime network, mainly targeting victims in Assam. Following the arrests, Hatigaon police confiscated a variety of evidence including laptops, mobile phones, and various documents considered objectionable.
