The Cabinet approved the appointment of a team of Special Public Prosecutors to conduct proceedings in the Zubeen Garg death case. Senior Advocate Ziaul Kamar has been appointed as Special Public Prosecutor, while Brojendra Mohan Chaudhuri will serve as Additional Special Public Prosecutor. Kishor Dutta, Pranjal Dutta and Vikash Jammar have been appointed as Assistant Special Public Prosecutors.

In another significant decision, the Cabinet approved the settlement of one bigha of land in Betkuchi under the Dispur Revenue Circle in favour of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha. The land will be utilised for the construction of a multipurpose project aimed at promoting and preserving the Bodo language, literature and cultural heritage, along with providing permanent infrastructure for literary and cultural activities.

The Cabinet also sanctioned an allocation of Rs 5 crore to the Zubeen Garg Memorial Trust to support its ongoing and future initiatives.

Welcoming major infrastructure developments, the Cabinet expressed appreciation for the foundation-laying of the 34.5-kilometre elevated corridor at Kaziranga National Park, which will be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 18, 2026. On January 17, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend a cultural programme featuring nearly 10,000 Bagurumba dancers at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex.
