Guwahati, Nov 16: The Assam Cabinet, in a meeting on Thursday, resolved to amalgamate the Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) into a single entity, the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB).
This decision was taken to manage, regulate, and enhance the quality and standards of school education in the state. Furthermore, the cabinet sanctioned the Assam Secondary Education (Government Schools) Service (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023 and the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) Service (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023.
These amendments aim to streamline the recruitment process of Graduate and Post Graduate teachers, including Subject Teachers in vocational subjects.
These revised rules are designed to maintain an appropriate pupil-teacher ratio, ensure the best possible use of manpower, provide effective academic support to students, and prevent any negative impact on academic activities at the secondary level in Provincialised and Government Schools.
