GOLAGHAT, Jan 10: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal brought to light the National River Traffic and Navigational system guidelines in the second meeting of Inland Waterways Development Council (IWDC) held on Friday at Kaziranga.
Union minister Sonowal embarked on and announced projects and initiatives in 21 states and Union territories, calling attention to the green ecosystem, ship repair facilities, vessel traffic, inland vessels including electric catamarans, vessel traffic management systems, etc.
Along with CM Sarma and Sonowal, Santanu Thakur, Jogen Mohan, and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, attended the meeting. Sonowal expected that these projects would enhance cargo and passenger movement and change the landscape of river cruise tourism at large.
