Assam CM Reiterates Execution Of Karbi Peace Accord

GUWAHATI, April 28: In a bid to boost agriculture and animal husbandry and empower youth through modern education, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stones for various projects in Karbi Anglong in the presence of Governor professor Jagdish Mukhi and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Addressing the mammoth gathering, the chief minister termed the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Karbi Anglong as historic and said that this has generated new enthusiasm among the people of the district.

Referring to Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s song that describes the people belonging to Karbi community as hard working and rich in culture, the chief minister said that the Karbi people have made immense contribution in furthering the socio-cultural life of Assam.

Stating that peace has returned to Karbi Anglong due to committed efforts of the Prime Minister and Union Home minister Amit Shah, the chief minister said that the Karbi Peace Accord signed recently gives new hope to the land by fulfilling dreams and aspirations of the people of Karbi Anglong.

CM Sarma further said that to give renewed push to peace and development, steps have been taken for setting up a veterinary college at Manja and agriculture as well as model government college at West Karbi Anglong. He also reiterated the state government’s commitment for successful implementation of the peace accord.

Underlining Modi’s call for construction of 75 Amrit Sarovars in every district, the chief minister termed this as a very constructive initiative to mark the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrated coinciding with the 75th year of independence.

The mega rally was also attended by Water Resources minister Pijush Hazarika, Hills Areas Development minister Jogen Mohan, president of Assam Pradesh BJP and MLA Bhabesh Kalita, Karbi King Ram Singh Ronghang, MP Haren Sing Bey, Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dr. Numol Momin, MLAs Bidya Sing Engleng, Dorsing Ronghang and Rupsing Teron among others. CEM KAAC Tuliram Ronghang delivered the welcome speech at the rally.
