DIBRUGARH/DIPHU, April 24: Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday took stock of the Khanikar field in Dibrugarh to review the preparation of the venue where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public rally on April 28.

Talking to reporters, Sarma said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Dibrugarh to inaugurate seven cancer hospitals in Assam. He will inaugurate a cancer hospital at AMCH and another six cancer hospitals will be virtually inaugurated. After the inauguration, he will address a public meeting at Khanikar field in Dibrugarh.”

“Modi will inaugurate a 300-bedded Cancer hospital in Dibrugarh which will provide treatment to the patients who go for treatment outside Assam,” Sarma said.

The chief minister also visited Assam Medical College and Hospital to take stock of the Cancer Care centre.

Union minister Rameswar Teli, state ministers Atul Bora, Ajanta Neog, Bimal Borah, Sanjoy Kishan, MLAs Prasanta  Phukan, Chakradhar Gogoi, Taranga Gogoi, Binod Hazarika, Rupesh Gowala, Teros Gowala, Suren Phukan, Punakon Baruah and other state leaders, special DGP GP Singh, senior police officials, Dibrugarh DC and  SP and other officers were present during his visit.

CEM, Pijush & Jogen takes stock of PM’s visit

Our Diphu Bureau adds: Meanwhile, the HAD and Guardian minister of the hill districts of Assam, Jogen Mohan and minister Pijush Hazarika, Government of Assam visited Diphu, Karbi Anglong to review the preparation for the maiden visit of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to Karbi Anglong on April 28.

In the review meeting held at Government Boys HS School playground here, the ministers along with the chief executive member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and executive members of KAAC also attended the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme of the Prime Minister of India.

After the meeting, minister Hazarika said, “More than 5 lakh people are expected to attend the event. They have been working tirelessly.”

The CEM of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang also interacted with the grassroots leaders and workers of the party and asked them to bring as many people to the public meeting.

The programme was attended by MP, Horen Sing Bey, MLA, Darsing Ronghang, Bidya Sing Engleng and Rupsing Teron, chairman of KAAC, Longki Timung, district leaders of BJP and workers were present at the programme.
