Morigaon, Jan 08: Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya visited Morigaon district with a day-long programme. He attended several programs in the Agricultural Science Centre, Morigaon at Jhargaon. He visited the Amrit Lake Project built in a beautiful environment at the premises of the Center for Agricultural Sciences. An exhibition was also arranged with shops of various departments at the center premises.
In the exhibition, he tried to present locally produced goods, organic farming crops, handicrafts and textiles of the artisans to present their own clothes and other products and other departments. The governor took taste of groundnut produced by Morigaon agriculture department and thanked the department for their initiative .He then participated in an exchange of views with the beneficiaries who have benefited from government schemes under various departments. Speaking at the function, he said the Raj Bhavan is now named as Lok Bhavan.
The Central Government has taken several schemes for the welfare of the people. He urged the people to come forward to take advantage of these schemes. He also exchanged views on whether Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Jal Jeevan Abhiyan etc. have benefited from the scheme and stressed on the successful implementation of the Tuberculosis Free India Mission.
He urged every parent to take firm resolve to teach their children well. He said it is not the responsibility of parents not to pay attention to their children’s education in the name of building their homes or by giving mobile phones and motorcycles to their children. He said children should be taught to live natural life. He also donated nutritious food packages to tuberculosis patients under the Nkshay Mitra programme.
He then attended a review meeting with the district administration at the meeting room of the Agricultural Science Centre. The Governor was met by the Minister of Water Resources, Information and Public Relations of the Government of Assam, Piyush Hazarika. District Commissioner Anamika Tewari gave the Governor a overall insight into the Morigaon district and the heads of each department presented the progress of the work of their respective departments. He took details of Panchayats and Rural Development Department, Jal Jeevan Abhiyan, Tuberculosis Free India Mission, Drug List Mission, Ayushman Bharat etc. He urged every officer to make cleanliness a habit.
The Governor also practiced yoga on the banks of the Amrit Sarovar and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to listen to his Mann Ki Baat programme. He also urged every officer to be an inspiration to ten others. Earlier, the Governor visited a fish production center at Nijrapar in Jagiroad. He then visited Kumai Regional Secondary School and interacted with the students. He visited the Handicraft Center of Jhargaon and interacted with the artisans. He also inspected the Tata Semi Conductor Project.
The Governor also visited the residence of eminent athlete Ashtipar and greeted him.Earlier the Governor of Assam Lakshman Prasad Acharya today visited at Kumoi Anchalik Secondary school .While interacting  with  the students of the school , the governor advised the students to be   bookworm  for becoming a good citizen of the country . He also advised the students that the more you read  the more you  learn that increases the   self-confidence to lead  the  career building .Earlier  the governor was warmly welcomed by the District Commissioner Anamika Tewari and Addl. District Commissioner Anusuya Sarma,Inspector of school Apurba Thakuria,head teacher of the school Kiran  Deka,BO of education,Mayong Lekhamoni Hira .Besides the governor took stock of the PM-Poshan and took the taste of midday meal alongwith the students of the school.He also inaugurated the cycle distribution programme and handed over to three students of the school .
