GUWAHATI, Feb 14: Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya while concluding his two-day Dima Haso district visit, on Friday handed over radio sets and megaphones to chief executive member of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa.
It was done under “Governor Assam Amrit Sarovar Sadbhavna Sangat Protsahan Yojana” in presence of principal secretary of the Council, and the District Commissioner of the district.
It may be noted that the yojana was launched to transform Amrit Sarovars into centers of public engagement, encouraging greater community participation in nation-building exercises.
The Governor as a part his visit, also met representatives of social organisations, spiritual institutions, including ISKCON, Prajapita Brahmakumari, and Ramakrishna Mission and political organisations. During his interaction with the organisations, Governor Acharya encouraged everyone to actively participate in nation-building exercises by contributing to the well-being of society in their own capacities. He emphasised that life is an opportunity to bring happiness to others, as he said that meaningful efforts towards social progress can make a significant difference in the positive development of the society. Appreciating Dima Hasao and its natural beauty, the Governor said that Dima Hasao’s cultural richness and its unity in diversity has made the state unique. He commended the peaceful coexistence of multiple demographic units, describing it as a shining example of inclusivity and mutual respect.
Reflecting on India’s deep-rooted spiritual traditions, the Governor noted that Assam is no different in its ability to give spiritual a tool to address all the complexities of life. He also highlighted on different festivals celebrated in Dima Hasao as well as in Assam stating that the celebrations of these festival bring communities together, reinforcing cultural pride and a progressive mindset.
The Governor offered prayers at the Sibarai Hading Shiv Temple in Boro Haflong, seeking prosperity and happiness of all sections of the people of the state. He also planted a sapling within the temple premises. Moreover, a cultural performance by local artistes, showcasing the vibrant culture of the district was also presented in the honour of the Governor.
