GUWAHATI, Sept 19: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday expressed profound grief over the sudden death of celebrated singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg, who passed away earlier in the day in Singapore.
In his condolence message, the chief minister said Assam had lost “one of its favourite sons” and described Garg as a “glittering star” whose untimely demise had left a void that could never be filled. “Zubeen’s voice had an unmatched ability to energise people. His unique voice stirred the masses, creating music that touched the hearts and souls of people from all walks of life,” Sarma said.
The chief minister added that future generations would remember Garg as a stalwart of Assam’s culture and that his creations would inspire many more artistes.

He further recalled Garg’s generosity and readiness to support those in need, stating that the singer’s “magical voice and unforgettable creations” would live forever in the hearts of the people.
Offering his condolences to the bereaved family, Sarma prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
