JORHAT, April 17: Munindra Rajbongshi, a resident of Geetanagar, Guwahati was arrested here on Thursday on charges of murder.
As per a source Rajbongshi had married the daughter of Aasna Begum of Sonarigaon in Baligaon here, 12 years ago and on being excommunicated by his family, due to the inter religion marriage, he began to reside with his mother-in-law Aasna Begum and his wife at Baligaon.
Aasna Begum said that Rajbongshi allegedly did not work and though he was the father of two sons, would come home drunk and beat her and his wife (Aasna’s daughter).

A few days ago, Aasna had asked Baneswar Hazarika of Tezpur to come and help in some house work. Last night at about 2 am Aasna had an altercation with her son- in- law Munindra and had to flee from the house as Munindra chased her with a bamboo pole. The source further said that as Munindra could not layout his hands on Aasna Begum, he returned home and grievously attacked Baneswar Hazarika, who was asleep. Baneswar was rushed to hospital by the neighbours but he succumbed to his injuries in the morning.
