Guwahati, 10 Oct: Assam Police have arrested two personal security officers (PSOs) of late singer Zubeen Garg after uncovering financial transactions totalling over ₹1.1 crore from their accounts. Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya were taken into custody by the CID following four consecutive days of questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Preliminary investigations revealed that around ₹70 lakh was transacted through Bora’s account, while Baishya’s account saw transactions amounting to approximately ₹40 lakh, reportedly through digital payment channels.
The arrests come after both PSOs were suspended on October 7 over allegations of serious financial irregularities. Garima Saikia Garg, Zubeen’s wife, stated that the funds were provided to the officers for the late singer’s social welfare initiatives. She added that the PSOs maintained all relevant bank statements and a diary documenting various transactions, which are currently under review by investigators.
The SIT continues to probe the matter to establish the full scope of the financial activities linked to the accounts.
