Guwahati, 20 Oct: A two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Assam is likely to depart for Singapore on 20 October, to pursue key leads in the ongoing investigation into singer Zubeen’s death. The team will be headed by SIT Chief Munna Prasad Gupta, Special DGP (CID), and accompanied by Investigating Officer Tarun Goel. Sources said the overseas visit is expected to be central to piecing together the sequence of events during Zubeen’s final international trip.
Reports indicate the SIT may retrace the singer’s movements in Singapore, inspecting locations he stayed at or visited, while reviewing electronic, financial, and documentary records. Earlier, around ten Assamese expatriates in Singapore reportedly shared information believed to help investigators identify potential contacts and engagements linked to the case.

According to sources, the team is also likely to coordinate with Singapore Police authorities to examine evidence and collect additional CCTV or other materials relevant to the probe. Reports suggest interactions with individuals who had direct or indirect contact with Zubeen abroad could form an important part of the inquiry.
This is reported to be the SIT’s first international field visit since the investigation began, underlining the cross-border dimension of the case. The team is expected to submit a detailed report to the Assam government after the trip, with further updates on the investigation awaited.
