Before Modi, Assam hit by a wave of protests: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahato, April 17: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma credits the transformation in Assam’s functioning to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance. Sarma addressed a gathering in Sivasagar after participating in a rally led by PM Modi in Nalbari.

He compared the current situation in Assam and India with that of pre-2014, highlighting the changes brought about since PM Modi’s rule. He stated that protests no longer precede actions in Assam and that a significant section of ULFA has abandoned extremism to join mainstream society.

Bodo and Karbi insurgents have also opted for peace. Sarma also underlined the state government’s achievements, like keeping the state safe during the pandemic, creating one lakh jobs within three years and promising employment to another 50,000 individuals in the coming year.

He also mentioned the support provided to entrepreneurs through the Atmanirbhar scheme and the financial assistance to 30 lakh women under the Orunodoi scheme. He concluded by announcing the release of matriculation exam results after April 20 and the government’s commitment to the education of all girls who pass these exams.
