Bhogali Bihu, Tiwa Pichu celebrated

KHERONI, Jan 15: The much awaited Bhogali Bihu and Tiwa Pichu have arrived. In West Karbi Anglong, the Tiwa community lit Meji and worshipped the god of fire and prayed for the welfare of the people of the state in Phelangpi Borpujia Village

People danced folk dances and also presented contemporary dances on the occasion. Tiwa Pichu is a post harvest festival of the Tiwa community. People belonging to the Tiwa Tribe reside West Karbi Anglong in huge numbers. Since time immemorial the Community lives in harmony with other communities in the district.
