Birth anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev observed

DEMOW, Oct 7: Under the patronage of Nahat Deodubi Sarbajanin Namghar and in association with the other Namghar of the area, the 574th Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev birth anniversary started in Nahat Deodubi Sarbajanin Naam Ghar premises from Wednesday for two days.
As per the schedule, on Wednesday, the programme started with a cleanliness drive. Dinaram Borgohain, retired teacher of Dupani lit the ceremonial lamp. The saplings were also planted on the occasion. Ajay Kumar Gogoi, president of the organising committee hoisted the flag. The ‘smriti tarpan’ was offered by Phanidhar Borah, working president of the organising committee. Naam Prasanga was organised on the day. A drawing competition was organised on Demow block in the memory of Late Lambudar Barua. Different other competitions were also organised.
On Thursday, which was the second day of the programme, different programmes were organised and the results of the competitions were declared and prizes were distributed. The programme concluded on Thursday.
