SILCHAR, April 20: District Health Society under the aegis of Cachar administration organised a colourful felicitation programme for outstanding achievement in Kayakalp programme during the year 2021-22 and also for making significant progress in Covid vaccination coverage within a period of 11 days w.e.f. 21/03/2022 to 31/03/2022 at Cachar.

A day-long programme was held at Gandhi Bhavan here in Silchar on Wednesday.

MP Rajdeep Roy was the chief guest of the function, wherein Katigorah MLA Khalil Uddin Mazumder, Amitabh Rai, president, Zilla Parishad, Cachar; Bimolendu Roy, leading citizen cum president, BJP Cachar district committee were present as the guests of honour.

Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli presided over the felicitation programme.

Speaking on the occasion MP Rajdeep Roy said, “I congratulate Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli, Joint Director of Health Dr Ashutosh Barman and the entire health fraternity for achieving a significant progress in Covid vaccination and also to achieve 50 numbers awards in Kayakalp programme.”

“I also congratulate Superintendent of SM Dev Civil Hospital Dr Alokananda Nath and her team for bagging the 2nd position in the entire state,” Dr Roy added.

MP Dr Roy also urged the Health Department to address the issues related to Maternal Mortality and Infant Mortality and work more vigorously for reduction of Maternal mortality rate & Infant mortality ratio.

Dr Roy further stated that all sorts of possible help will be provided and the ICU facility will be made functional at SM Dev Civil Hospital and in the future new services will be augmented in this hospital.

In her address, Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli expressed her heartfelt thanks to each and every Health team member and requested all to continue the legacy of achievers in the coming days.

Jalli also pointed out that as Maternal Mortality and Infant Mortality are the prime concern, hence frontline workers are keeping a close watch on the health status of Antenatal checkup of mother or to any new born.

Emphasising on the success story of ‘Mission Uttaran’ in Cachar district, DC Jalli stated that particularly in Tea Garden areas, the maternal mortality figures have been reduced from 15 numbers, which was in the year 2020-21 to 9 numbers in the year 2021-22.

Jalli also expressed her sincere thanks & gratitude to MP Dr Rajdeep Roy for extending his support by sanctioning a grant of Rs 10 lakh for establishing an ICU at SM Dev Civil Hospital Silchar which would be an additional asset in the Health sector of Cachar and will be a boon not only for Cachar but for the whole Barak Valley.

Amitabh Rai and Bimolendu Roy also offered their heartfelt thanks and congratulated the district administration and Health Department for achieving good numbers of laurels in Kayakalp and also for covering huge targets in Covid vaccination.

Earlier, joint director of Health, Dr Ashutosh Barman welcomed all the distinguished guests, media persons, health officials and staff.

It is noteworthy to mention that during the year 2016-17, with only 1(one) Kayakalp award to 50 awards during the year 2021-22, is basically praiseworthy performance and relentless & sincere contribution of all category of staff brought this achievement, and in addition to that continuous monitoring of district team under the strong leadership of deputy commissioner of Cachar have made the task easy.

As reported, a total of 25 Sub-Health & Wellness Centres, 19 Primary Health Centres, 5 Community Health Centres and SM Dev Civil Hospital Silchar have received Kayakalp award during the year 2021-22.

All health officials were awarded by the distinguished guests on the occasion.

To improve the Tele-consultation calls, laptops & other gadgets which were supplied by MD, NHM, Assam for Health & wellness centers, were also ceremonially handed over to a few community health officers.

While sharing the objective, DPM, NHM, Rahul Ghosh highlighted the process obtained by the Health team & frontline workers to achieve Kayakalp and to cover the due & overdue citizens by Covid vaccination.
