NAGAON, Nov 18: The celebration of the 175 years jubilee of Nagaon Mission Higher Secondary School which was held at its school premises concluded.
The celebration started with a two-day long programme with the hoisting of 175 flags.
As part of the celebration, the reception as well as the organising committees of the celebration took out a cultural procession throughout the Nagaon town in which thousands of students, alumni, teachers, parents and other well-wishers of the district participated and focused on the indomitable glory of the leading educational institute of the small town.
The cultural procession was ceremonially flagged off by noted Assamese film actress and academician Malaya Goswami.
The closing ceremony of the celebration of 175 years jubilee of the institute concluded following a colourful cultural extravaganza at the school premises where noted Assamese singer Dipleena Deka performed her songs and music.
It is worth mentioning here that the institute was first set up as an educational institute for orphans in 1846 by the then American Missionary and the saviour of Assamese language – Miles Bronson which later turned into the first educational institute for females in the entire state.
