Attending the Open Session on the concluding day, the chief executive member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang thanked the Garo community for maintaining good relationships with other communities for decades and asked to continue to do so.

The CEM said, “Whatever problem exists in the Garo community, it is my problem. I know their character, their traditional system and behaviour since I represent the Constituency (Bithung Rengthama) twice where the 2nd majority community is Garo, after Karbi.”

Asking for cooperation from the Garo tribe, he assured to protect the community wherever they live within Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.

MP, Horensing Bey in his speech acknowledged that there were many Garo cadres in the disbanded insurgent organisation United Peoples Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) who lost their lives during the armed struggle for ‘Hemprek Kangthim’ (Separate State). The MP is a former insurgent leader.
