KOKRAJHAR, Feb 8: A review meeting on the progress of various initiatives that were initiated to boost the production and weaving of silk under Sericulture department in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) was held at the Bodoland Silk Park, Adabari in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.
The meeting was chaired by chief executive members of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro and all officers and technical staffs of the department of Sericulture of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government participated which has emphatically stressed to make massive ushering of the Sericulture department in days to come.
CEM Boro took stock of the progress of various initiatives taken to boost the production and weaving of silk under the Sericulture department in Bodoland region.
He said that the government of BTR has so far undertaken the Bodoland Silk Mission to transform BTR’s traditional silk weaving sector into a viable and vibrant industry. He informed that the eri silk sector in Bodoland region is very popular among the citizens in the country for its high productivity of eri silk in Bodoland region. He has opined that the BTR government is committed to work for all round development of the region and subsequently initiated many programmes and projects besides launched missions as well as vision for paving the way for healthy development.
“Our government has undertaken the Bodoland Silk Mission to transform BTR’s traditional silk weaving sector into a viable and vibrant industry,” Boro added.
BTR executive member, Daobaisa Boro; principal secretary, Anurag Goel and several senior officials of Sericulture department were present in the event.
Meanwhile, CEM (BTR), Boro also chaired the inception meeting of Bodofa Livelihood Mission of department of WPT & BC, government of BTR on Wednesday which was held at BTC Secretariat Conference Hall, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.
The mission has been emphasising to keep alive the ideology and philosophy of Bodofa UN Brahma, who taught the importance of self-reliance and dedicated his life towards empowering the underprivileged communities.
Bodofa’s principles founded on the concept of “live and let live” continue to be our guiding light to meet self-reliance among the citizens.
“The mission will expand the opportunities of gainful income generation and employment and empower our tribal and backward communities to become self-reliant. The mission discussed procedures for the successful implementation of the mission objectives and the various schemes under the mission. Altogether, 26 projects covering 35,000 households under the mission are to be covered to further the inclusive grassroot development of Bodoland Territorial Region,” Boro said.
