Climate strike at Chengamari

Biswanath Chariali, Sept 23: A climate strike was held at Chengamari High School under Biswanath district on Friday as a part of ‘Fridays for Future’ campaign.
In this connection, an awareness procession was taken out which was inaugurated by Omprakash Mahati, the president of the School Management Committee. After the procession, an open meeting was held at the post office square of Chengamari village. The meeting was attended by Dhiren Bora, headmaster of Chengamari High School and Ashok Hazarika, assistant teacher of the school as guests. The awareness meeting was attended by Shusanta Das, senior teacher of the school, Kalen Daimari, Hiranya Boro, Amit Boro, Achyut Bora and Pallavi Mahati of the Chengamari Youth Society.
All the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ripunjay Bordoloi, science teacher of Chengamari high school. Addressing the gathering, Bordoloi said that the ‘Fridays for Future’ was launched by a Swedish teenage student and environmentalist Greta Thunberg in 2018. And presently, the campaign has become an internationally acclaimed campaign.
“This year, All India People’s Science Network (AIPSN) decided to support the campaign on September 23, he added.
