Condolence meeting in memory of Dr Ardhendu Kumar Dey

HOJAI, Aug 1: To pay homage to the former minister and social activist Dr Ardhendu Kumar Dey, a condolence meeting was held at Bibhuti Bhushan Guest House in Hojai on Sunday evening. The meeting was organised under the presidentship of Bijoy Chakrabarty, general secretary, Assam Nagarik Manch and colleague of Dr Dey and anchored by Dr. Pijush Nandi, lecturer, Hojai Girls College where local MLA Ramkrishna Ghosh; Kamal Dutta, social activist; Dr. Aditya Langthasa, former MLA; Rajat Chakrabarty, president, Ram Krishna Seva Ashram; Chaturthi Rani Biswas, chairperson, Hojai Municipal Board and many other people from all the walks of life gathered to pay homage to Dr. Ardhendu Kumar Dey. At the very outset, a lamp was lit in front of the portrait of Dr. Dey followed by a floral tribute. Everyone kept their views and remembered the doyen figure. They said the contribution of Dr. Dey for Hojai and in politics will always be remembered. Dr. Dey’s journey from physician to a firebrand politician was recalled, how he used to work for the upliftment of the people taking everyone together. They said Dr. Dey was a candid, soft-spoken, friendly person to whom anyone could connect easily. In the meeting, everyone prayed almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Notably, Dr. Dey passed away on July 27 last at Guwahati while undergoing treatment and his last rites were performed at his native place Hojai.
